Text sources are the simplest kind. Paste any text into the box and it becomes part of your agent's knowledge.
How to add text
- Open Sources → Text
- Click Add text source
- Give it a title (this helps you find and edit it later)
- Paste in the content
- Click Save
What to use it for
- Brand voice notes — "We talk like a friendly, competent senior engineer. We never use exclamation points."
- Short policies — refund policy, cancellation policy, privacy basics
- Operating hours and contact info — even though you can put this in a Q&A pair, free text works too
- "About us" — your story, mission, team in a few paragraphs
- Unwritten knowledge — things that live in someone's head and have never made it onto a webpage
Tip
Text sources are the fastest way to get tribal knowledge out of people's heads and into your agent. Run a 30-minute "brain dump" session with each subject-matter expert and paste the notes directly.
Editing text sources
Click any text source in the list to open it for editing. Save and the agent re-indexes immediately — usually within seconds.
Length
Anything from a sentence to a long article works. For very long content (10+ pages), prefer a file or a URL — the structure helps the agent retrieve the right passages.
